Specifically, there were mounting problems with some Arri cameras and the Sony F55 camera

At the beginning of this year, we received reports of issues with the newly-released PL mounts for our Cine Lens lineup, in conjunction with certain camera models. Specifically, there were mounting problems with some Arri cameras and the Sony F55 camera. The back of the lens was coming into contact with the “handles” of the PL mount on those cameras, preventing the lens from inserting fully into the body. The issue occurred only with these cameras. Here’s a screenshot taken from a video provided by an Irix customer:

The Irix Cine 45mm T1.5 and an ARRI Alexa Mini LF camera. Note the small protrusion on the mount for the “handles” added to this camera body, which prevents the lens from inserting fully into the body.

All the new PL mount lenses are now available with the updated mount

Our developing team went to work immediately, and although there were some delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re now pleased to announce that this issue has been corrected with a re-design of the PL mount and the new configuration has immediately replaced the original mount. All the new PL mount lenses are now available with the updated mount.

Irix USA is proud to represent a manufacturer that not only pays attention to both sides of its customer feedback, but takes that important step to respond quickly and efficiently to any problems, regardless of the cause. Our support team is always available for questions or issues with Irix products purchased directly from irixusa.com or from any of our authorized U.S. dealers.
